The Spread Eagle in one of England’s most famous gardens is the perfect inn to be serving English cooking.

We source our produce from local specialists in and around North Dorset, West Wiltshire and South Somerset and have returned to the traditional cooking of the countryside pies, slow cooked stews, fresh fish, and meats which are usually char grilled or simply roasted.

Even the simple ploughman’s will be local bread with a Dorset Blue cheese or Keene`s mature Cheddar and served with a homemade chutney.

The head chef and his team have cooked for many years in kitchens serving more elaborate dishes but have returned to simple food that says everything about its origins.
